This August is the host of two fashion weeks. Last week, Africa Fashion Week was hosted in London. From the 27th to the 30th, Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam (AFWA) is set to take place at the Royal Tropical Institute Amsterdam. The fashion industry event is held to showcase upcoming collections from designers to press, media, stylists, buyers, fashion trailblazers and all fashion professionals and fashion lovers are invited.
Last year was the first Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam ever. The event consisted of an interactive celebration of fashion, culture, music and talent within the World Fashion Centre, Amsterdam. The event was hailed in the media as a great success, which saw thousands of visitors watch dozens of models glide down the runway in hundreds of African inspired or designed outfits to the delight and excitement of its audiences. This year, it is expected to raise the bar and showcase collections from even more designers, including a men’s segment.
