About Africa at Spitalfields

Pop Up Africa is the brain child of Jessica Laditan and Victoria Akagwu. Their aim of making the African retail industry more available to a broader audience resulted in the amazing one-day event, ‘Africa at Spitalfield’s.’

Both ladies were keen to offer support to creative entrepreneurs from the continent of their birth, in the form of highly sought-after space at affordable prices. This includes the best in both food and retail, presented to the masses in the most exciting fashion.

Pop Up Africa is not just about providing trading areas, but is also used to create events aimed at celebrating and inspiring enterprise. Several visits were made to a number of African countries where creative industries are emerging but where important investment is also needed to make African brands more accessible to a wider market.

Pop Up Africa brings one of the planet’s most colourful continents to London, where both ladies love and grew up.
