The third edition of Africa fashion week London (AFWL) took place beginning of this month. We had the chance to experience the fashion show in full and enjoy the work of talented designers that showcased at the fashion week. It was one heck of a weekend at the Truman brewery. From upcoming fashion designers to exhibitors and local African food stores, Africa fashion Week London was under full enjoyment and full of inspirations. A fashion week is nothing without the fashion creatives that visit the event. At an event like AFWL, there’s no way I could miss the fashionables/the-dress-to-impress. Therefore, ABINA Meets the streets is showcasing part 1 of the best looks from the visitors. From cute Ankara dresses, to funky outfits with African blends, we have captured them all.
This lovely curvy African lady is one of the founders of Kiyana Wraps. Kiyana Wraps has a signature art, i believe. They create signature head wraps that don’t look like your regular African wrap. Seriously, June Ambrose would bow down to these ones. I love Kiyana Wraps! In their owns words, Kiyana wraps aims to revolutionise the way African head wraps are worn by adding avant-garde designs and modern day touches for a high-fashion finish. Well, they are definitely doing great at that. Follow Kiyana Wraps on Facebook. I’m definitely a fan.
This lady with the hairy shoulders didn’t say a thing and she already had people taking their cameras to take pictures. This is that coat that Lady Gaga or Goldie Harvey(may her soul rest in peace) would wear, you know. Not a coat to wear every day, but super dope!
What I like about this look is that this guy likes to take a risk. And notice the Kente part in his trousers. I haven’t seen that before. Though not the look suited for every male, this suits him well.
This lovely lady’s top is sooo cute. Cute, Cute, Cute!
These fashionable ladies are wearing their signature wraps by Kiyana. What I love about their looks is that both young and older can wear these looks. Style, chicness and class is written all on this. Even if you don’t like the print-on-print look, you can wear a more neutral color on the clothing and still combine it with a fabulous wrap like Kiyana’s.
There are more fashionable looks coming up. First we have a full story on what went down at the AFWL 2013. What we loved and didn’t love. You know, ABINA spills it all in style. The designers who showcased at the fashion week were CHAI, I can surely tell you that. In the meantime, tell us how you like these looks.
