Last weekend was time for the first edition of Africa fashion Week Amsterdam (AFWA), which took place in the World Fashion Centre. The three day fashion event was a pleasant experience of African fashion showcase from various designers who each brought their unique handwork to the runway.
Black Pearl’s secret, the clothing line of the founder of AFWA, Diana Tambe, came with a clothing line which was what I call: Afro chic. The person who has a liking for elegance with a little edge will definitely wear her collection. Black Pearl’s secret made use of mainly white in her collection with a combination of two types of print, which made her clothing line memorable at the same time. The House of Adjeiwaah can be described as punk with a blend of Afro. I absolutely loved it. We have seen her clothing line at Africa Fashion Week London before. ABINA would definitely recommend her collection to music artists like Efya and Omawumi. Arriz Golden always brings what he is made of: elegance, extravagance and colourfulness. He definitely has a signature handwork. Alisha made a difference with her clothing line by adding the number ’38’ to her styles. Farida Musa was my favourite. Her collection was elegant all the way. her choice of colors and prints was excellent! Last but not least was Patou Manga, one of the few designers that showcased menswear.

The last day of the fashion showcase was a long one, it would have been pleasant to experience the show with a bit less waiting time. Overall, ABINA is looking forward to the next edition of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam.
