Known for her eloquence, her hour glass shape, chocolate skin and bubbly personality, Ghanaian presenter and actress, Peace Hyde will star in one of our favourite television series called Shuga Naija. The sequel, of which its fourth season is set to be showcased on television this June, continues in Nigeria. I started watching season three and I was hooked. And to be frank: we think it’s time season four should start.
Shuga is a television series presented by MTV Base with the goal to give youngsters education on safe sex, HIV, teen pregnancy and more. The story is based on African youngsters who each try to find their way through (college) life while sometimes getting in all kinds of trouble. We assure you that this is not a cliché television series. The storyline is super exciting. For example in season three, how the main character Sophie got herself in trouble by sleeping with her best friend’s boyfriend while running the risk of catching an STD and how Malaika finally escapes her abusive husband.
The first season was filmed in Kenya and featured Lupita N’yongo. The third season, which moved to Nigeria (Shuga Naija) featured Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Chris Attoh (Ghana) and more and it had me hooked.
